Halal-Friendly Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea

Food is one the best parts about South Korea and if you’re a Muslim looking for halal-friendly options, there’s actually a lot to choose from. I’m going to share 10 spots that I know of but the South Korean Tourism Board also has put together a list that you can view here.

Makan Restaurant

Located in Itaewon, Makan serves Malaysian and Indonesian cuisine with halal-certified ingredients. They offer a variety of dishes, including nasi lemak, rendang, and satay.

Busan Galmaegi

This restaurant in Itaewon specializes in Korean barbecue with halal-certified beef and chicken options. They offer a range of barbecue dishes, along with side dishes and traditional Korean soups.

Agak Agak

Agak Agak focuses on Malaysian cuisine, making it the perfect destination if you’re craving your favorite Nasi Lemak or Satay. They also offer other popular dishes like delicious soup bihun, ideal for chilly weather, as well as ayam goreng, and much more!

Petra

Run by a Palestinian, Muslim man living in Korea, this restaurant serves Mediterranean food. You can find biryani, mandhi, cous cous, lamb chops, and more.

Zafran Indian Bistro

Located in Itaewon, Zafran Indian Bistro serves authentic Indian cuisine with halal-certified meat and vegetarian options. They offer a variety of curries, biryanis, and tandoori dishes.

Yang Good Korean Muslim Food

Situated near Seoul Mosque in Itaewon, Yang Good offers halal-certified Korean dishes, including bulgogi, bibimbap, and kimchi jjigae. They also have vegetarian options available.

Eid

This restaurant, operated by a Korean-Muslim family and situated close to the Seoul Central Mosque, is highly popular among Muslim travelers. Enjoy their traditional Korean dishes such as bibimbap, bulgogi, and an array of unlimited banchan (side dishes)!

Kampungku Restaurant

If you’re in the mood for some delicious Korean fried chicken, head over to Kampungku Restaurant. It’s conveniently located just a short walk from Myeongdong Station. This spot offers a menu with both Korean and Malaysian dishes, and their Korean fried chicken is particularly popular. Plus, they’ve got spacious prayer rooms available for anyone who needs them, whether you’re dining in or just passing by.

Kervan Turkish Restaurant

If you’re seeking delicious Turkish flavors and find yourself at the COEX mall, while visiting the Starfield Library, this may be a convenient and halal-certified option for you.

Halal Kitchen Korea 

Located in the traditional Bukchon Hanok Village and set in a cozy traditional Korean hanok, the restaurant offers a variety of dishes such as dakgalbi, bulgogi, and bibimbap. With delicious food, stunning views, and a welcoming atmosphere making it a pretty popular restaurant to visit.

Balwoo Gongyang

While not halal-certified, it is a plant-based restaurant that follows principles of Buddhism and traditional Korean cuisine. They use organic vegetarian food and it seems to have good reviews.

Halal Guys

Not Korean food, but if you’re craving the New York city cart legends you can find them in Seoul to switch up between all the bulgogi and kimchi you’re eating. You’ll find the gyors, falafels, and chicken sandwiches all in the Itaewon, Seoul’s expat neighborhood.
