Traveling can be expensive but it doesn’t always have to be. I believe this is just another misconception that the western world has made people believe so they don’t feel like they’re missing out or see what other countries have to offer. If you’re from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom, you can travel far away and for not a lot. You might even be surprised at what you can see, experience, and eat in countries abroad.
From 2020-2024, I’ve been a digital nomad without a lease anywhere. Some may call it irresponsible but I’m not interested in paying rent to a landlord for one apartment. I’ll buy a house before I rent long-term again. In doing that, I’ve saved SO much. When I quit my job, I had no cash flow and when I started my new business, it was also slow to pick up. I spent LESS every month than I would’ve in New York or Los Angeles. My monthly was anywhere from $1,500-$2,300. This is me going out to cafes twice, eating out for all meals, activities, and accommodations. Now, I didn’t always stay in luxury hotels. I also only spend on hair care, nails, massages while traveling and I was able to squeeze that all in as well.
